Welcome to the
Starfish Room! In our class, we interact with the infants in various ways, which help them reach their developmental milestones. Our daily routines and schedule allows infant to develop listening skills, small and large motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and verbal skills. We develop relationships with infants through diapering
and feeding which helps them feel secure in a learning environment. Overall, the Starfish Room teachers strive to establish a healthy and long-lasting relationship with both infants and parents.

starfish room (6 weeks to 13 months)
angelfish room (6 weeks to 13 months)
In our Angelfish Room we treat each child as a unique individual. We provide opportunities for our children to achieve their developmental milestones by using various activities such as; to promote language skills we read books, sing songs and play the point and name game to familiar objects, cat, dog, cup, bottle, etc. To help develop social skills we use puppets and finger plays to encourage them to participate in conversation. We use interactive toys that help develop cognitive skills, fine and gross motor skills. Our younger infants are given multiple opportunities for tummy time to strengthen their core muscles and the activity gym for reaching and grasping. To help our children achieve self help skills, we provide opportunities for them to feed themselves finger foods during snack and mealtime, and encourage our infants to hold their bottles. Our goal in the Angelfish Room is to celebrate each important milestone and foster a positive nurturing environment for infants.
tiger room (13 to 24 months)
In the Tiger Room, we help children develop their small and large motor skills. For small motor skills we use puzzles, convert links, pound toys, and so forth. For large motor skills we allow children to freely explore the dramatic play area by dressing up, or playing in the (play) kitchen area where children can pretend to cook. Children are provided opportunities to freely explore each center in the classroom to enhance their curiosity as well as foster their independence. We also like to keep an open line of communication between parents and teachers to make sure everything transitions smoothly from the classroom to the home. The environment is set up so each child feels comfortable and senses that our center is an extension of the home. We provide lots of hugs to the children (and the parents), to help foster a trusting connection, so the parents feel comfortable when leaving their little ones in our care.
turtle room (24 to 36 months)
The Turtle Room consists of a loving environment where we support and encourage each child's individual development, creativity, and social relationship with others. We also foster each child's independence through our daily routines. While doing this, children are learning about gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination, early math concepts, social and language skills, problem solving, creative thinking, cause and effect, and imaginative role-play.
dino room (3 to 5 years)
The possibilities are endless in the Dinosaur Room. We build on the children's interest, igniting a spark, and encouraging them to take things to a deeper level. Together we discover and explore our world. Teachers plan for the whole class as well as each individual child. A big focus in our preschool class is on social skills. We work on problem solving, and working things out with each other as well as higher order thinking. Preschool is also a time for preparing to move on to the next level, big school or kindergarten. Our strong beginnings program helps us prepare children with the necessary skills which are essential for life. We have a wonderful and unique opportunity in our program to see the beauty in each one of our children.
